About
the Association
Since its inception in 1969, Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS)
programs have served children from birth to five years old in a program
delivery model designed to meet the needs of migrant and seasonal
farmworkers who harvest our nation’s crops. The National Migrant and
Seasonal Head Start Association (NMSHSA), a non profit 501(c) (3)
organization, was incorporated in 2001 to be the voice for the children of
migrant and seasonal farmworkers within the Head Start community and
serves as the premier advocate for resources, the disseminator of
information to the general public and to create partnerships to help
member agencies provide quality comprehensive services to all farmworker
children and their families.
All Migrant and Seasonal Head Start grantees are invited to
participate. Each member grantee is allowed representatives in the
following categories: CEO/Community Partner, Director, Staff, and Parent.
Membership to the NMSHSA Board of Directors is comprised of 6 members from
each of the following affiliates and the immediate past President of the
Board of Directors as an ex-officio, non voting member.
